The Human (GREM1) Gremlin 1 ELISA Kit measures Gremlin 1 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human GREM1 antibody. GREM1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human GREM1 Antibody is added and binds to GREM1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated GREM1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human GREM1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Cytokine that may play an important role during carcinogenesis and metanephric kidney organogenesis, as a BMP antagonist required for early limb outgrowth and patterning in maintaining the FGF4-SHH feedback loop. Down-regulates the BMP4 signaling in a dose-dependent manner (By similarity). Antagonist of BMP2; inhibits BMP2-mediated differentiation of osteoblasts (in vitro) (PubMed: 27036124).
