Human HES1 (Transcription Factor Hes-1) ELISA Kit
The Human (HES1) Transcription Factor Hes-1 ELISA Kit measures Transcription Factor Hes-1 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human HES1 antibody. HES1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human HES1 Antibody is added and binds to HES1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated HES1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human HES1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Transcriptional repressor of genes that require a bHLH protein for their transcription. May act as a negative regulator of myogenesis by inhibiting the functions of MYOD1 and ASH1. Binds DNA on N-box motifs: 5'-CACNAG-3' with high affinity and on E-box motifs: 5'-CANNTG-3' with low affinity (By similarity). May play a role in a functional FA core complex response to DNA cross-link damage, being required for the stability and nuclear localization of FA core complex proteins, as well as for FANCD2 monoubiquitination in response to DNA damage.
