Human HSD11B1 (Corticosteroid 11 Beta Dehydrogenase Isozyme 1) ELISA Kit

Human HSD11B1 (Corticosteroid 11 Beta Dehydrogenase Isozyme 1) ELISA Kit

The Human (HSD11B1) Corticosteroid 11 Beta Dehydrogenase Isozyme 1 ELISA Kit measures Corticosteroid 11-beta-dehydrogenase isozyme 1 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human HSD11B1 antibody. HSD11B1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human HSD11B1 Antibody is added and binds to HSD11B1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated HSD11B1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human HSD11B1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background 11Beta-Hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1, also known as cortisone reductase, is an NADPH-dependent enzyme highly expressed in key metabolic tissues including liver, adipose tissue, and the central nervous system. In these tissues, HSD11B1 reduces cortisone to the active hormone cortisol that activates glucocorticoid receptors. It belongs to the family of short-chain dehydrogenases.
