The Human (HYAL3) Hyaluronidase-3 ELISA Kit measures Hyaluronidase-3 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human HYAL3 antibody. HYAL3 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human HYAL3 Antibody is added and binds to HYAL3 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated HYAL3 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human HYAL3. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Facilitates sperm penetration into the layer of cumulus cells surrounding the egg by digesting hyaluronic acid. Involved in induction of the acrosome reaction in the sperm. Involved in follicular atresia, the breakdown of immature ovarian follicles that are not selected to ovulate. Induces ovarian granulosa cell apoptosis, possibly via apoptotic signaling pathway involving CASP8 and CASP3 activation, and poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) cleavage. Has no hyaluronidase activity in embryonic fibroblasts in vitro. Has no hyaluronidase activity in granulosa cells in vitro. Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
