The Human (IFIT2) Interferon-induced Protein with Tetratricopeptide Repeats 2 ELISA Kit measures Interferon-induced protein with tetratricopeptide repeats 2 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human IFIT2 antibody. IFIT2 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human IFIT2 Antibody is added and binds to IFIT2 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated IFIT2 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human IFIT2. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background IFN-induced antiviral protein which inhibits expression of viral messenger RNAs lacking 2'-O-methylation of the 5' cap. The ribose 2'-O-methylation would provide a molecular signature to distinguish between self and non-self mRNAs by the host during viral infection. Viruses evolved several ways to evade this restriction system such as encoding their own 2'-O-methylase for their mRNAs or by stealing host cap containing the 2'-O-methylation (cap snatching mechanism).
