Human MPST (3-Mercaptopyruvate Sulfurtransferase) ELISA Kit
Human MPST (3-Mercaptopyruvate Sulfurtransferase) ELISA Kit
The Human (MPST) 3-Mercaptopyruvate Sulfurtransferase ELISA Kit measures 3-mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human MPST antibody. MPST present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human MPST Antibody is added and binds to MPST in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated MPST antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human MPST. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Transfer of a sulfur ion to cyanide or to other thiol compounds. Also has weak rhodanese activity. Detoxifies cyanide and is required for thiosulfate biosynthesis. Acts as an antioxidant. In combination with cysteine aminotransferase (CAT), contributes to the catabolism of cysteine and is an important producer of hydrogen sulfide in the brain, retina and vascular endothelial cells. Hydrogen sulfide H2S is an important synaptic modulator, signaling molecule, smooth muscle contractor and neuroprotectant. Its production by the 3MST/CAT pathway is regulated by calcium ions.
