Human RPS23 (40S Ribosomal Protein S23) ELISA Kit

Human RPS23 (40S Ribosomal Protein S23) ELISA Kit

The Human (RPS23) 40S Ribosomal Protein S23 ELISA Kit measures 40S Ribosomal Protein S23 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human RPS23 antibody. RPS23 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human RPS23 Antibody is added and binds to RPS23 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated RPS23 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human RPS23. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background Component of the ribosome, a large ribonucleoprotein complex responsible for the synthesis of proteins in the cell (PubMed: 28257692, PubMed: 23636399, PubMed: 25957688, PubMed: 25901680). The small ribosomal subunit (SSU) binds messenger RNAs (mRNAs) and translates the encoded message by selecting cognate aminoacyl-transfer RNA (tRNA) molecules. The large subunit (LSU) contains the ribosomal catalytic site termed the peptidyl transferase center (PTC), which catalyzes the formation of Peptide bonds, thereby polymerizing the amino acids delivered by tRNAs into a polypeptide chain. The nascent polypeptides leave the ribosome through a tunnel in the LSU and interact with protein factors that function in enzymatic processing, targeting, and the membrane insertion of nascent chains at the exit of the ribosomal tunnel (PubMed: 23636399, PubMed: 25957688, PubMed: 25901680). Plays an important role in translational accuracy (PubMed: 28257692). Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
