Human S100A7 (Protein S100-A7) ELISA Kit
Human S100A7 (Protein S100-A7) ELISA Kit
The Human (S100A7) Protein S100-A7 ELISA Kit measures Protein S100-A7 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human S100A7 antibody. S100A7 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human S100A7 Antibody is added and binds to S100A7 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated S100A7 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human S100A7. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
S100 calcium-binding protein A7 (S100A7), also known as psoriasin, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the S100A7 gene. S100A7 is a member of the S100 family of proteins containing 2 EF-hand calcium-binding motifs. S100 proteins are localized in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus of a wide range of cells, and involved in the regulation of a number of cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation. S100A7 also displays antimicrobial properties. It is secreted by epithelial cells of the skin and is a key antimicrobial protein against Escherichia coli by disrupting their cell membranes. This is the reason that in countries with poor sanitation, human skin is exposed to E. coli strains from faecal matter but it does not usually result in an infection.
