The Human (SLC27A1) Long-chain Fatty Acid Transport Protein 1 ELISA Kit measures Long-Chain Fatty Acid Transport Protein 1 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human SLC27A1 antibody. SLC27A1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human SLC27A1 Antibody is added and binds to SLC27A1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated SLC27A1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human SLC27A1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Has also an acyl-CoA ligase activity for long-chain and very-long-chain fatty acids. May act directly as a bona fide transporter, or alternatively, in a cytoplasmic or membrane-associated multimeric protein complex to trap and draw fatty acids towards accumulation. Plays a pivotal role in regulating available LCFA substrates from exogenous sources in tissues undergoing high levels of beta-oxidation or triglyceride synthesis.
