The Human (SLC2A9) Solute Carrier Family 2, Facilitated Glucose Transporter Member 9 ELISA Kit measures Solute carrier family 2, facilitated glucose transporter member 9 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human SLC2A9 antibody. SLC2A9 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human SLC2A9 Antibody is added and binds to SLC2A9 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated SLC2A9 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human SLC2A9. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.
BackgroundSolute carrier family 2, facilitated glucose transporter member 9 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SLC2A9 gene. This gene encodes a member of the SLC2A facilitative glucose transporter family. Members of this family play a significant role in maintaining glucose homeostasis. The encoded protein may play a role in the development and survival of chondrocytes in cartilage matrices. Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene. SLC2A9 has also recently been found to transport uric acid, and genetic variants of the transporter have been linked to increased risk of development of both hyperuricemia, gout and Alzheimer's disease.
