Human SMC3 (Structural Maintenance of Chromosomes Protein 3) ELISA Kit
Human SMC3 (Structural Maintenance of Chromosomes Protein 3) ELISA Kit
The Human (SMC3) Structural Maintenance of Chromosomes Protein 3 ELISA Kit measures Structural Maintenance of Chromosomes Protein 3 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human SMC3 antibody. SMC3 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human SMC3 Antibody is added and binds to SMC3 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated SMC3 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human SMC3. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Central component of cohesin, a complex required for chromosome cohesion during the cell cycle. The cohesin complex may form a large proteinaceous ring within which sister chromatids can be trapped. At anaphase, the complex is cleaved and dissociates from chromatin, allowing sister chromatids to segregate. Cohesion is coupled to DNA replication and is involved in DNA repair. The cohesin complex plays also an important role in spindle pole assembly during mitosis and in chromosomes movement. Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
