Human SMOX (Spermine Oxidase) ELISA Kit
Human SMOX (Spermine Oxidase) ELISA Kit
The Human (SMOX) Spermine Oxidase ELISA Kit measures Spermine oxidase in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human SMOX antibody. SMOX present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human SMOX Antibody is added and binds to SMOX in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated SMOX antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human SMOX. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Flavoenzyme which catalyzes the oxidation of spermine to spermidine. Can also use N1-acetylspermine and spermidine as substrates, with different affinity depending on the isoform (isozyme) and on the experimental conditions. Plays an important role in the regulation of polyamine intracellular concentration and has the potential to act as a determinant of cellular sensitivity to the antitumor polyamine analogs. May contribute to beta-alanine production via aldehyde dehydrogenase conversion of 3-amino-propanal. Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
