The Human (SNAP29) Synaptosomal-associated Protein 29 ELISA Kit measures Synaptosomal-associated protein 29 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human SNAP29 antibody. SNAP29 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human SNAP29 Antibody is added and binds to SNAP29 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated SNAP29 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human SNAP29. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
SNAREs, soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor-attachment protein receptors, are essential proteins for fusion of cellular membranes. SNAREs localized on opposing membranes assemble to form a trans-SNARE complex, an extended, parallel four alpha-helical bundle that drives membrane fusion. SNAP29 is a SNARE involved in autophagy through the direct control of autophagosome membrane fusion with the lysososome membrane. Plays also a role in ciliogenesis by regulating membrane fusions.
