Human SOAT2 (Sterol-O-Acyltransferase 2) ELISA Kit
Human SOAT2 (Sterol-O-Acyltransferase 2) ELISA Kit
The Human (SOAT2) Sterol-O-Acyltransferase 2 ELISA Kit measures Sterol-O-Acyltransferase 2 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human SOAT2 antibody. SOAT2 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human SOAT2 Antibody is added and binds to SOAT2 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated SOAT2 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human SOAT2. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Catalyzes the formation of fatty acid-cholesterol esters, which are less soluble in membranes than cholesterol (PubMed: 16647063, PubMed: 11294643). Plays a role in lipoprotein assembly and dietary cholesterol absorption (PubMed: 11294643). Utilizes oleoyl-CoA ((9Z)-octadecenoyl-CoA) and linolenoyl-CoA ((9Z,12Z,15Z)-octadecatrienoyl-CoA) as substrates (PubMed: 11294643). May provide cholesteryl esters for lipoprotein secretion from hepatocytes and intestinal mucosa (PubMed: 11294643). [Isoform 2]: Has lower enzymatic activity compared to isoform 1. [Isoform 3]: Has lower enzymatic activity compared to isoform 1. Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
