The Human (SOX10) Transcription Factor Sox-10 ELISA Kit measures Transcription Factor SOX-10 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human SOX10 antibody. SOX10 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human SOX10 Antibody is added and binds to SOX10 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated SOX10 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human SOX10. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Transcription factor that plays a central role in developing and mature glia (By similarity). Specifically activates expression of myelin genes, during oligodendrocyte (OL) maturation, such as DUSP15 and MYRF, thereby playing a central role in oligodendrocyte maturation and CNS myelination (By similarity). Once induced, MYRF cooperates with SOX10 to implement the myelination program (By similarity). Transcriptional activator of MITF, acting synergistically with PAX3 (PubMed: 21965087).
