The Human (TAC4) Tachykinin 4 ELISA Kit measures Tachykinin 4 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human TAC4 antibody. TAC4 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human TAC4 Antibody is added and binds to TAC4 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated TAC4 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human TAC4. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Tachykinins are active Peptides which excite neurons, evoke behavioral responses, are potent vasodilators and secretagogues, and contract (directly or indirectly) many smooth muscles. Endokinin-A induces thermal hyperalgesia and pain-related behavior such as scratching following intrathecal administration in rats. These effects are suppressed by treatment with endokinin-C.
