The Human (TCHH) Trichohyalin ELISA Kit measures Trichohyalin in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human TCHH antibody. TCHH present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human TCHH Antibody is added and binds to TCHH in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated TCHH antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human TCHH. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Intermediate filament-associated protein that associates in regular arrays with keratin intermediate filaments (KIF) of the inner root sheath cells of the hair follicle and the granular layer of the epidermis. It later becomes cross-linked to KIF by isodipeptide bonds. It may serve as scaffold protein, together with involucrin, in the organization of the cell envelope or even anchor the cell envelope to the KIF network.
