The Human (TERF1) Telomeric Repeat-binding Factor 1 ELISA Kit measures Telomeric Repeat-Binding Factor 1 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human TERF1 antibody. TERF1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human TERF1 Antibody is added and binds to TERF1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated TERF1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human TERF1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Binds the telomeric double-stranded 5'-TTAGGG-3' repeat and negatively regulates telomere length. Involved in the regulation of the mitotic spindle. Component of the shelterin complex (telosome) that is involved in the regulation of telomere length and protection. Shelterin associates with arrays of double-stranded 5'-TTAGGG-3' repeats added by telomerase and protects chromosome ends; without its protective activity, telomeres are no longer hidden from the DNA damage surveillance and chromosome ends are inappropriately processed by DNA repair pathways.
