The Human (TIMM8A) Mitochondrial Import Inner Membrane Translocase Subunit Tim8 A ELISA Kit measures Mitochondrial import inner membrane translocase subunit Tim8 A in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human TIMM8A antibody. TIMM8A present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human TIMM8A Antibody is added and binds to TIMM8A in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated TIMM8A antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human TIMM8A. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.
BackgroundMitochondrial intermembrane chaperone that participates in the import and insertion of some multi-pass transmembrane proteins into the mitochondrial inner membrane. Also required for the transfer of beta-barrel precursors from the TOM complex to the sorting and assembly machinery (SAM complex) of the outer membrane. Acts as a chaperone-like protein that protects the hydrophobic precursors from aggregation and guide them through the mitochondrial intermembrane space. The TIMM8-TIMM13 complex mediates the import of proteins such as TIMM23, SLC25A12/ARALAR1 and SLC25A13/ARALAR2, while the predominant TIMM9-TIMM10 70 kDa complex mediates the import of much more proteins.
