The Human (TRPV6) Transient Receptor Potential Cation Channel Subfamily V Member 6 ELISA Kit measures Transient Receptor Potential Cation Channel Subfamily V Member 6 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human TRPV6 antibody. TRPV6 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human TRPV6 Antibody is added and binds to TRPV6 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated TRPV6 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human TRPV6. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Important for normal Ca(2+) ion homeostasis in the body, including bone and skin (By similarity). The Channel is activated by low internal calcium level, probably including intracellular calcium store depletion, and the current exhibits an inward rectification (PubMed: 15184369). Inactivation includes both a rapid Ca(2+)-dependent and a slower Ca(2+)-calmodulin-dependent mechanism; the latter may be regulated by phosphorylation. In vitro, is slowly inhibited by Mg(2+) in a voltage-independent manner. Heteromeric assembly with TRPV5 seems to modify Channel properties.
