Human TSPO (Translocator Protein) ELISA Kit
Human TSPO (Translocator Protein) ELISA Kit
The Human (TSPO) Translocator Protein ELISA Kit measures Translocator Protein in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human TSPO antibody. TSPO present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human TSPO Antibody is added and binds to TSPO in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated TSPO antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human TSPO. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Can bind protoporphyrin IX and may play a role in the transport of porphyrins and heme (By similarity). Promotes the transport of cholesterol across mitochondrial membranes and may play a role in lipid metabolism (PubMed: 24814875), but its precise physiological role is controversial. It is apparently not required for steroid hormone biosynthesis. Was initially identified as peripheral-type benzodiazepine receptor; can also bind isoquinoline carboxamides (PubMed: 1847678).
