The Human (TTPA) Alpha-Tocopherol Transfer Protein ELISA Kit measures Alpha-Tocopherol Transfer Protein in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human TTPA antibody. TTPA present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human TTPA Antibody is added and binds to TTPA in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated TTPA antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human TTPA. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Binds alpha-tocopherol, enhances its transfer between separate membranes, and stimulates its release from liver cells (PubMed: 7887897). Binds both phosphatidylinositol 3,4-bisphosphate and phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate; the resulting conformation change is important for the release of the bound alpha-tocopherol (By similarity).
