The Human (TWSG1) Twisted Gastrulation Protein Homolog 1 ELISA Kit measures Twisted Gastrulation Protein Homolog 1 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human TWSG1 antibody. TWSG1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human TWSG1 Antibody is added and binds to TWSG1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated TWSG1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human TWSG1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
May be involved in dorsoventral axis formation. Seems to antagonize BMP signaling by forming ternary complexes with CHRD and BMPs, thereby preventing BMPs from binding to their receptors. In addition to the anti-BMP function, also has pro-BMP activity, partly mediated by cleavage and degradation of CHRD, which releases BMPs from ternary complexes.
