The Human (URAT1) Urate Transporter 1 ELISA Kit measures Urate Transporter 1 in samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Human SLC14A1 antibody. SLC14A1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human SLC14A1 Antibody is added and binds to SLC14A1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated SLC14A1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human SLC14A1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Urea Channel that facilitates transmembrane urea transport down a concentration gradient. A constriction of the transmembrane Channel functions as selectivity filter through which urea is expected to pass in dehydrated form. The rate of urea conduction is increased by hypotonic stress. Plays an important role in the kidney medulla collecting ducts, where it allows rapid equilibration between the lumen of the collecting ducts and the interstitium, and thereby prevents water loss driven by the high concentration of urea in the urine.
