The Mouse (ACADL) Long-chain Specific Acyl-CoA Dehydrogenase, Mitochondrial ELISA Kit measures Long-chain specific acyl-CoA dehydrogenase, mitochondrial in Mouse samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse ACADL antibody. ACADL present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse ACADL Antibody is added and binds to ACADL in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated ACADL antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse ACADL. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.
BackgroundLong-chain specific acyl-CoA dehydrogenase is one of the acyl-CoA dehydrogenases that catalyze the first step of mitochondrial fatty acid beta-oxidation, an aerobic process breaking down fatty acids into acetyl-CoA and allowing the production of energy from fats. The first step of fatty acid beta-oxidation consists in the removal of one hydrogen from C-2 and C-3 of the straight-chain fatty acyl-CoA thioester, resulting in the formation of trans-2-enoyl-CoA (By similarity).
Among the different mitochondrial acyl-CoA dehydrogenases, long-chain specific acyl-CoA dehydrogenase can act on saturated and unsaturated acyl-CoAs with 6 to 24 carbons with a preference for 8 to 18 carbons long primary chains (PubMed:9861014). Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
