The Mouse (ANG-2) Angiopoietin 2 ELISA Kit measures Angiopoietin 2 in Mouse samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse ANG-2 antibody. ANG-2 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse ANG-2 Antibody is added and binds to ANG-2 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated ANG-2 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse ANG-2. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Binds to TEK/TIE2, competing for the ANGPT1 binding site, and modulating ANGPT1 signaling. Can induce tyrosine phosphorylation of TEK/TIE2 in the absence of ANGPT1. In the absence of angiogenic inducers, such as VEGF, ANGPT2-mediated loosening of cell-matrix contacts may induce endothelial cell apoptosis with consequent vascular regression.
