Mouse Catestatin ELISA Kit

Mouse Catestatin ELISA Kit

The Mouse Catestatin ELISA Kit measures catestatin in Mouse samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse catestatin antibody. catestatin present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse catestatin Antibody is added and binds to catestatin in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated catestatin antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse catestatin. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background Strongly inhibits glucose induced insulin release from the pancreas. Inhibits catecholamine release from chromaffin cells and noradrenergic neurons by acting as a non-competitive nicotinic cholinergic antagonist. Can induce mast cell migration, degranulation and production of cytokines and chemokines. Regulates granule biogenesis in endocrine cells by up-regulating the transcription of protease nexin 1 (SERPINE2) via a cAMP-PKA-SP1 pathway. This leads to inhibition of granule protein degradation in the Golgi complex which in turn promotes granule formation (PubMed:21436258). Pyroglutaminated (pGlu)-serpinin exerts an antiapoptotic effect on cells exposed to oxidative stress (PubMed:21537909). Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
