The Mouse (CD163) Scavenger Receptor Cysteine-rich Type 1 Protein M130 ELISA Kit measures Scavenger receptor cysteine-rich type 1 protein M130 in Mouse samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse CD163 antibody. CD163 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse CD163 Antibody is added and binds to CD163 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated CD163 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse CD163. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.
BackgroundInvolved in clearance and endocytosis of hemoglobin/haptoglobin complexes by macrophages and may thereby protect tissues from free hemoglobin-mediated oxidative damage. May play a role in the uptake and recycling of iron, via endocytosis of hemoglobin/haptoglobin and subsequent breakdown of heme. Binds hemoglobin/haptoglobin complexes in a calcium-dependent and pH-dependent manner. Induces a cascade of intracellular signals that involves tyrosine kinase-dependent calcium mobilization, inositol triphosphate production and secretion of IL6 and CSF1 (By similarity).
After shedding, the soluble form (sCD163) may play an anti-inflammatory role. Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
