The Mouse (CD82) Cd82 Antigen ELISA Kit measures CD82 antigen in Mouse samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse CD82 antibody. CD82 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse CD82 Antibody is added and binds to CD82 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated CD82 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse CD82. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
CD82 (Cluster of Differentiation 82), or KAI1, is a human protein encoded by the CD82 gene. This metastasis suppressor gene product is a membrane glycoprotein that is a member of the tetraspanin/transmembrane 4 superfamily. Expression of this gene has been shown to be downregulated in tumor progression of human cancers and can be activated by p53 through a consensus binding sequence in the promoter. Its expression and that of p53 are strongly correlated, and the loss of expression of these two proteins is associated with poor survival for prostate cancer patients. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene. Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
