Mouse CDH5 (Cadherin-5) ELISA Kit
The Mouse (CDH5) Cadherin-5 ELISA Kit measures Cadherin-5 in Mouse samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse CDH5 antibody. CDH5 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse CDH5 Antibody is added and binds to CDH5 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated CDH5 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse CDH5. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Cadherins are calcium-dependent cell adhesion proteins (By similarity).
They preferentially interact with themselves in a homophilic manner in connecting cells; cadherins may thus contribute to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types (By similarity).
This cadherin may play an important role in endothelial cell biology through control of the cohesion and organization of the intercellular junctions (PubMed:9220534, PubMed:20332120).
It associates with alpha-catenin forming a link to the cytoskeleton (By similarity).
Acts in concert with KRIT1 and PALS1 to establish and maintain correct endothelial cell polarity and vascular lumen (PubMed:27466317).
These effects are mediated by recruitment and activation of the Par polarity complex and RAP1B (By similarity).
