Mouse CSTA (Cystatin-A) ELISA Kit
Mouse CSTA (Cystatin-A) ELISA Kit
The Mouse (CSTA) Cystatin-A ELISA Kit measures Cystatin-A in Mouse samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse CSTA antibody. CSTA present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse CSTA Antibody is added and binds to CSTA in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated CSTA antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse CSTA. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Cystatin-A is a protein that in humans is encoded by the CSTA gene. The cystatin superfamily encompasses proteins that contain multiple cystatin-like sequences. Some of the members are active cysteine protease inhibitors, while others have lost or perhaps never acquired this inhibitory activity. There are three inhibitory families in the superfamily, including the type 1 cystatins (stefins), type 2 cystatins, and kininogens. This gene encodes a stefin that functions as a cysteine protease inhibitor, forming tight complexes with papain and the cathepsins B, H, and L. The protein is one of the precursor proteins of cornified cell envelope in keratinocytes and plays a role in epidermal development and maintenance. Stefins have been proposed as prognostic and diagnostic tools for cancer. Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
