The Mouse (DEFB3) Beta-defensin 3 ELISA Kit measures Beta-defensin 3 in Mouse samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse DEFB3 antibody. DEFB3 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse DEFB3 Antibody is added and binds to DEFB3 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated DEFB3 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse DEFB3. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Beta-defensin 3 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the DEFB3 gene. HBD-3 was first isolated from human lesional psoriatic scales. RT-PCR showed HBD-3 to be expressed highly in skin, trachea, tongue and tonsils, with lower levels found salivary glands, uterus, kidney, bone marrow, thymus, colon, stomach, adenoid, pharynx, and larynx.
