Mouse GDF8 (Growth Differentiation Factor 8) ELISA Kit
Mouse GDF8 (Growth Differentiation Factor 8) ELISA Kit
The Mouse (GDF8) Growth Differentiation Factor 8 ELISA Kit measures Growth Differentiation Factor 8 in Mouse samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse GDF8 antibody. GDF8 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse GDF8 Antibody is added and binds to GDF8 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated GDF8 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse GDF8. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Myostatin (also known as growth differentiation factor 8, abbreviated GDF8) is a myokine, a protein produced and released by myocytes that acts on muscle cells to inhibit muscle cell growth. In humans it is encoded by the MSTN gene. Myostatin is a secreted growth differentiation factor that is a member of the TGF beta protein family. Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
