The Mouse (GRIN2A) Glutamate Receptor Ionotropic Nmdar2A ELISA Kit measures Glutamate Receptor Ionotropic Nmdar2A in Mouse samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse GRIN2A antibody. GRIN2A present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse GRIN2A Antibody is added and binds to GRIN2A in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated GRIN2A antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse GRIN2A. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Component of NMDA receptor complexes that function as heterotetrameric, ligand-gated ion Channels with high calcium permeability and voltage-dependent sensitivity to magnesium (PubMed: 1374164). Channel activation requires binding of the neurotransmitter glutamate to the epsilon subunit, glycine binding to the zeta subunit, plus membrane depolarization to eliminate Channel inhibition by Mg(2+). Sensitivity to glutamate and Channel kinetics depend on the subunit composition; Channels containing GRIN1 and GRIN2A have lower sensitivity to glutamate and faster deactivation kinetics than Channels formed by GRIN1 and GRIN2B (By similarity).
