The Mouse (IRF5) Interferon Regulatory Factor 5 ELISA Kit measures interferon regulatory factor 5 in Mouse samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse IRF5 antibody. IRF5 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse IRF5 Antibody is added and binds to IRF5 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated IRF5 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse IRF5. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Transcription factor that plays a critical role in innate immunity by activating expression of type I interferon (IFN) IFNA and INFB and inflammatory cytokines downstream of endolysosomal toll-like receptors TLR7, TLR8 and TLR9 (PubMed:15665823).
Regulates the transcription of type I IFN genes (IFN-alpha and IFN-beta) and IFN-stimulated genes (ISG) by binding to an interferon-stimulated response element (ISRE) in their promoters (PubMed:15665823).
