The Mouse (LDHB) L-lactate Dehydrogenase B Chain ELISA Kit measures L-lactate dehydrogenase B chain in Mouse samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse LDHB antibody. LDHB present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse LDHB Antibody is added and binds to LDHB in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated LDHB antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse LDHB. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Lactate dehydrogenase B is a protein that in humans is encoded by the LDHB gene. This gene encodes the B subunit of lactate dehydrogenase enzyme, which catalyzes the interconversion of pyruvate and lactate with concomitant interconversion of NADH and NAD+ in a post-glycolysis process. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. Recent studies have shown that a C-terminally extended isoform is produced by use of an alternative in-frame translation termination codon via a stop codon readthrough mechanism, and that this isoform is localized in the peroxisomes. Mutations in this gene are associated with lactate dehydrogenase B deficiency. Pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes X, 5 and 13. Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
