Mouse LRP8 (Low Density Lipoprotein Receptor Related Protein 8) ELISA Kit

Mouse LRP8 (Low Density Lipoprotein Receptor Related Protein 8) ELISA Kit

The Mouse (LRP8) Low Density Lipoprotein Receptor Related Protein 8 ELISA Kit measures Low Density Lipoprotein Receptor Related Protein 8 in Mouse samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse LRP8 antibody. LRP8 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse LRP8 Antibody is added and binds to LRP8 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated LRP8 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse LRP8. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background Cell surface receptor for Reelin (RELN) and apolipoprotein E (apoE)-containing ligands. LRP8 participates in transmitting the extracellular Reelin signal to intracellular signaling processes, by binding to DAB1 on its cytoplasmic tail. Reelin acts via both the VLDL receptor (VLDLR) and LRP8 to regulate DAB1 tyrosine phosphorylation and microtubule function in neurons. LRP8 has higher affinity for Reelin than VLDLR. LRP8 is thus a key component of the Reelin pathway which governs neuronal layering of the forebrain during embryonic brain development. Binds the endoplasmic reticulum resident receptor-associated protein (RAP). Binds dimers of beta 2-glycoprotein I and may be involved in the suppression of platelet aggregation in the vasculature. Highly expressed in the initial segment of the epididymis, where it affects the functional expression of clusterin and phospholipid hydroperoxide glutathione peroxidase (PHGPx), two proteins required for sperm maturation (PubMed:12695510). May also function as an endocytic receptor. Not required for endocytic uptake of SEPP1 in the kidney which is mediated by LRP2 (PubMed:18174160). Together with its ligand, apolipoprotein E (apoE), may indirectly play a role in the suppression of the innate immune response by controlling the survival of myeloid-derived suppressor cells (PubMed:29336888).
