Mouse MIF (Macrophage Migration Inhibitory Factor) ELISA Kit
The Mouse (MIF) Macrophage Migration Inhibitory Factor ELISA Kit measures Macrophage Migration Inhibitory Factor in Mouse samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse MIF antibody. MIF present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse MIF Antibody is added and binds to MIF in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated MIF antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse MIF. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Pro-inflammatory cytokine. Involved in the innate immune response to bacterial pathogens. The expression of MIF at sites of inflammation suggests a role as mediator in regulating the function of macrophages in host defense. Counteracts the anti-inflammatory activity of glucocorticoids. Has phenylpyruvate tautomerase and dopachrome tautomerase activity (in vitro), but the physiological substrate is not known.
