Mouse MMP-13 (Matrix Metalloproteinase 13) ELISA Kit

Mouse MMP-13 (Matrix Metalloproteinase 13) ELISA Kit

The Mouse (MMP-13) Matrix Metalloproteinase 13 ELISA Kit measures Matrix Metalloproteinase 13 in Mouse samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse MMP13 antibody. MMP13 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse MMP13 Antibody is added and binds to MMP13 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated MMP13 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse MMP13. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background Plays a role in the degradation of extracellular matrix proteins including fibrillar collagen, fibronectin, TNC and ACAN. Cleaves triple helical collagens, including type I, type II and type III collagen, but has the highest activity with soluble type II collagen. Can also degrade collagen type IV, type XIV and type X. May also function by activating or degrading key regulatory proteins, such as TGFB1 and CCN2. Plays a role in wound healing, tissue remodeling, cartilage degradation, bone development, bone mineralization and ossification. Required for normal embryonic bone development and ossification. Plays a role in the healing of bone fractures via endochondral ossification. Plays a role in wound healing, probably by a mechanism that involves proteolytic activation of TGFB1 and degradation of CCN2. Plays a role in keratinocyte migration during wound healing. May play a role in cell migration and in tumor cell invasion. Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
