The Mouse (NEU3) Sialidase-3 ELISA Kit measures Sialidase-3 in Mouse samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse NEU3 antibody. NEU3 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse NEU3 Antibody is added and binds to NEU3 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated NEU3 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse NEU3. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Exo-alpha-sialidase that catalyzes the hydrolytic cleavage of the terminal sialic acid (N-acetylneuraminic acid, Neu5Ac) of a glycan moiety in the catabolism of glycolipids, glycoproteins and oligosacharides. Displays high catalytic efficiency for gangliosides including alpha-(2->3)-sialylated GD1a and GM3 and alpha-(2->8)-sialylated GD3 (PubMed: 17708748, PubMed: 10713120, PubMed: 11696012, PubMed: 14970224). Plays a role in the regulation of transmembrane signaling through the modulation of ganglioside content of the lipid bilayer and by direct interaction with signaling receptors, such as EGFR. Desialylates EGFR and activates downstream signaling in proliferating cells.
