The Mouse (NKX2-1) Homeobox Protein Nkx-2.1 ELISA Kit measures Homeobox Protein Nkx-2.1 in Mouse samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse NKX2-1 antibody. NKX2-1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse NKX2-1 Antibody is added and binds to NKX2-1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated NKX2-1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse NKX2-1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Transcription factor that binds and activates the promoter of thyroid specific genes such as thyroglobulin, thyroperoxidase, and thyrotropin receptor. Crucial in the maintenance of the thyroid differentiation phenotype. May play a role in lung development and surfactant homeostasis. Forms a regulatory loop with GRHL2 that coordinates lung epithelial cell morphogenesis and differentiation (PubMed: 22955271). Activates the transcription of GNRHR and plays a role in enhancing the circadian oscillation of its gene expression.
