The Mouse (OPG) Osteoprotegerin ELISA Kit measures Osteoprotegerin in Mouse samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse TNFRSF11B antibody. TNFRSF11B present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse TNFRSF11B Antibody is added and binds to TNFRSF11B in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated TNFRSF11B antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse TNFRSF11B. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Acts as decoy receptor for TNFSF11/RANKL and thereby neutralizes its function in osteoclastogenesis. Inhibits the activation of osteoclasts and promotes osteoclast apoptosis in vitro. Bone homeostasis seems to depend on the local ratio between TNFSF11 and TNFRSF11B. May also play a role in preventing arterial calcification. May act as decoy receptor for TNFSF10/TRAIL and protect against apoptosis. TNFSF10/TRAIL binding blocks the inhibition of osteoclastogenesis. Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
