Mouse OTC (Ornithine Carbamoyltransferase, Mitochondrial) ELISA Kit
Mouse OTC (Ornithine Carbamoyltransferase, Mitochondrial) ELISA Kit
The Mouse (OTC) Ornithine Carbamoyltransferase, Mitochondrial ELISA Kit measures Ornithine carbamoyltransferase, mitochondrial in Mouse samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse OTC antibody. OTC present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse OTC Antibody is added and binds to OTC in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated OTC antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse OTC. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Ornithine transcarbamylase (OTC) (also called ornithine carbamoyltransferase) is an enzyme (EC 2.1.3.3) that catalyzes the reaction between carbamoyl phosphate (CP) and ornithine (Orn) to form citrulline (Cit) and phosphate (Pi). There are two classes of OTC: anabolic and catabolic. This article focuses on anabolic OTC. Anabolic OTC facilitates the sixth step in the biosynthesis of the amino acid arginine in prokaryotes.
