The Mouse (PRDX1) Peroxiredoxin-1 ELISA Kit measures Peroxiredoxin-1 in Mouse samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse PRDX1 antibody. PRDX1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse PRDX1 Antibody is added and binds to PRDX1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated PRDX1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse PRDX1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Thiol-specific peroxidase that catalyzes the reduction of hydrogen peroxide and organic hydroperoxides to water and alcohols, respectively. Plays a role in cell protection against oxidative stress by detoxifying peroxides and as sensor of hydrogen peroxide-mediated signaling events. Might participate in the signaling cascades of growth factors and tumor necrosis factor-alpha by regulating the intracellular concentrations of H(2)O(2) (By similarity).
