The Mouse (RAB1A) Ras-related Protein Rab-1A ELISA Kit measures Ras-related protein Rab-1A in Mouse samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse RAB1A antibody. RAB1A present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse RAB1A Antibody is added and binds to RAB1A in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated RAB1A antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse RAB1A. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
The small GTPases Rab are key regulators of intracellular membrane trafficking, from the formation of transport vesicles to their fusion with membranes (PubMed:20639577, PubMed:22854043).
Rabs cycle between an inactive GDP-bound form and an active GTP-bound form that is able to recruit to membranes different sets of downstream effectors directly responsible for vesicle formation, movement, tethering and fusion (PubMed:20639577, PubMed:22854043).
RAB1A regulates vesicular protein transport from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) to the Golgi compartment and on to the cell surface, and plays a role in IL-8 and growth hormone secretion (By similarity).
