The Mouse (SLC27A4) Long-chain Fatty Acid Transport Protein 4 ELISA Kit measures Long-chain fatty acid transport protein 4 in Mouse samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse SLC27A4 antibody. SLC27A4 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse SLC27A4 Antibody is added and binds to SLC27A4 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated SLC27A4 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse SLC27A4. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background Long-chain fatty acid transport protein 4 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SLC27A4 gene. This membrane protein is also called FATP4 or ACSVL5 (very long chain fatty acyl-CoA synthetase 5). The purified protein shows enzyme activity (EC 6.2.1.3), esterifying long and very long chain fatty acids with Coenzyme A.
