Mouse TWIST1 (Twist-related Protein 1) ELISA Kit
The Mouse (TWIST1) Twist-related Protein 1 ELISA Kit measures Twist-related protein 1 in Mouse samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse TWIST1 antibody. TWIST1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse TWIST1 Antibody is added and binds to TWIST1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated TWIST1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse TWIST1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Acts as a transcriptional regulator. Inhibits myogenesis by sequestrating E proteins, inhibiting trans-activation by MEF2, and inhibiting DNA-binding by MYOD1 through physical interaction. This interaction probably involves the basic domains of both proteins. Also represses expression of proinflammatory cytokines such as TNFA and IL1B. Regulates cranial suture patterning and fusion. Activates transcription as a heterodimer with E proteins. Regulates gene expression differentially, depending on dimer composition. Homodimers induce expression of FGFR2 and POSTN while heterodimers repress FGFR2 and POSTN expression and induce THBS1 expression. Heterodimerization is also required for osteoblast differentiation.
