Mouse TYR (Tyrosinase) ELISA Kit
Mouse TYR (Tyrosinase) ELISA Kit
The Mouse (TYR) Tyrosinase ELISA Kit measures Tyrosinase in Mouse samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse TYR antibody. TYR present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse TYR Antibody is added and binds to TYR in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated TYR antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse TYR. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
This is a copper-containing oxidase that functions in the formation of pigments such as melanins and other polyphenolic compounds (PubMed: 2517217). Catalyzes the initial and rate limiting step in the cascade of reactions leading to melanin production from tyrosine (PubMed: 2517217, PubMed: 1537333). In addition to hydroxylating tyrosine to DOPA (3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine), also catalyzes the oxidation of DOPA to DOPA-quinone, and possibly the oxidation of DHI (5,6-dihydroxyindole) to indole-5,6 quinone (PubMed: 1537333).
