The Porcine (LPL) Lipoprotein Lipase ELISA Kit measures Lipoprotein Lipase in Porcine samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Porcine LPL antibody. LPL present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Porcine LPL Antibody is added and binds to LPL in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated LPL antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Porcine LPL. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Key enzyme in triglyceride metabolism (By similarity). Catalyzes the hydrolysis of triglycerides from circulating chylomicrons and very low density lipoproteins (VLDL), and thereby plays an important role in lipid clearance from the blood stream, lipid utilization and storage (By similarity). Although it has both phospholipase and triglyceride lipase activities it is primarily a triglyceride lipase with low but detectable phospholipase activity (By similarity). Mediates margination of triglyceride-rich lipoprotein particles in capillaries (By similarity).
