Rat AQP-7 (Aquaporin 7) ELISA Kit
Rat AQP-7 (Aquaporin 7) ELISA Kit
The Rat (AQP-7) Aquaporin 7 ELISA Kit measures Aquaporin 7 in Rat samples. The plate has been pre-coated with Rat AQP7 antibody. AQP7 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat AQP7 Antibody is added and binds to AQP7 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated AQP7 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat AQP7. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Background
Forms a Channel that mediates water and glycerol transport across cell membranes at neutral pH (PubMed: 9252401). The Channel is also permeable to urea (PubMed: 9252401). Plays an important role in body energy homeostasis under conditions that promote lipid catabolism, giving rise to glycerol and free fatty acids. Mediates glycerol export from adipocytes. After release into the blood stream, glycerol is used for gluconeogenesis in the liver to maintain normal blood glucose levels and prevent fasting hypoglycemia. Required for normal glycerol reabsorption in the kidney (By similarity). Source: UniProt Consortium (2025)
